What is home visiting?
A home visiting program is a specialized support service that provides home visits to children within their families to help them reach their full potential and to strengthen their family relationships. When children have secure attachments with adults, stability, and loving interactions with them, they thrive and develop into healthy, happy adults.

African American Pregnant/Parenting Moms
There are many options for how you want to be supported during your pregnancy and through the first year of your child’s life. We will help you find the right program for you, and you will be supported by staff who understand your needs and the experiences you are going through, allowing you to get the support you need.
Early Head Start Home-Based
Early Head Start home-based services are provided to expectant parents and children ages birth to 36 months and their families. A home educator makes weekly 1½ hour visits to provide age and developmentally-appropriate child-focused learning experiences in the family's home.
First Pregnancy
Nurse-Family Partnership supports first-time pregnant moms with a registered nurse who can support them through their pregnancy. Services include home visits, support with the baby’s birth, and developmental support to ensure they are healthy. Mothers can receive services until their baby is 2 years old.
Medically Underserved
The Community Nursing Program provides home visits by Public Health Nurses to the medically underserved, including high-risk pregnancies, children with medical conditions, people with unstable housing, and more. The program educates families about obtaining health care, disease prevention, and safe health practices.
Pregnant and Parenting Teens
You can get weekly visits on health education including improving bonding and parent-child relationships, child behavior, continuing your education, and connecting families with these community resources. Plus, our dedicated support ensures you receive the personalized assistance you need.
For All Families
Birth & Beyond Resource Centers are Family Resource Centers (FRC) that support Sacramento County families by offering weekly visits and providing health education to help improve bonding and parent-child relationships, child behavior, connecting families with community resources, and more.
